Life Membership awarded to John Mead

Club stalwart John Mead was awarded Life Membership at last Monday’s AGM. He is only our twelfth Life Member.
For those unfamiliar with John’s involvement, here are some brief details:

• Joined in the late 70’s with wife, Judy & kids
• Being a licenced plumber he jumped in and did plumbing & various other jobs around the Club
• Started playing night tennis during the 80’s and later became tennis convenor
• Served for many years on the Club’s Committee of Management in several stints starting in early 90’s.
• He chaired the meeting that voted to build a green and start up the Bowls Club.
• Started playing bowls around 10 years ago
• Was Bar Manager (jointly with Mike Emery) for many years
• Maintenance Manager for years

John has spent a lifetime working for our Club and thoroughly deserves this recognition.
